It’s bittersweet knowing that you’re not going to live much older than this, as we discovered last week that you have a tumor on your spleen. So I’m going to cuddle him a little more for as long as he is with us <3

February feels like a breeze after we’ve had January. The first month of the year always feels like it lasts 485 weeks instead of just 4 or 5. Once we’ve hit February, the days feel lighter (both in sunlight and feeling). I can’t wait for spring, I’ve already spotted some little green leaves and enjoyed bird songs!

Ok, it already feels ages ago, but last summer I got my teaching degree and my graduation project was all about animation, music and emotion.

I designed an art project in which students used the different aspects of music (in this case rhythm and melody) and animation (both the design of the character and the environment, as well as the movements) to convert an emotion into a short animation. With my own makership (as an animator and amateur musician) as a starting point, in retrospect this was quite a logical outcome.

It took me a while before I dared to share parts of this project on my socials. I was a little worried that images of the animation without the context wouldn’t be that interesting, but I think it’s too much fun to just pass up.

This piece is about the emotion ‘angry’ and how you can express this in an animation and strengthen it through music and design.

There’s snow!
I have some mixed feelings about it. Although I do love snowy landscapes in my illustrations and while traveling in Iceland or Finish Lapland, I hate to have it here in the Netherlands because it means: traffic jams, falling down while cycling and delayed trains.

So for now I just stare out my window and enjoy the view.

Did you know I do custom portraits?
This one was made for @nannyhamming ‘s husband for his birthday. Nanny asked for an illustration with their Labrador retrievers Jip and Pien, combined with their love for adventure and travels with the dogs. I think it turned out pretty well ☺️
